City Council Approves FY 08-09 Budget The Jacksonville City Council approved a balanced budget for the 2008-09 fiscal year on Tuesday, Sept. 24. The new budget was passed without significant changes and includes full funding for The Jacksonville Journey, a comprehensive, community-wide anti-crime initiative. Other top priorities in the budget are cleaning up the St. Johns River and growing Jacksonville's economy. For details, click here.
The River Accord's 2nd Anniversary
Mayor John Peyton, The River Accord partnering agencies, the University of North Florida, Jacksonville University, Sen. Jim King, Eric Hughes of the American Heritage Rivers Initiative (AHRI) and other community leaders celebrated The River Accord's second anniversary with the release of the State of the River report, recognition of the 10th anniversary of the AHRI designation and an update on projects benefitting the river's health.
