Thanksgiving Schedule –  All departments of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 27 and 28, in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Public Library branches will close at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, November 26, through Sunday, November 30. Garbage/recycling will be on a one-day delay, with Thursday routes being collected on Friday and Friday routes on Saturday. Normal schedules will resume at all locations on Monday, December 1. Awards! The St. Johns County Utility Department is the winner of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s 2008 National Clean Water Act Recognition Award and also the recipient of the Regional Award in Excellence in Environmental Stewardship from the Northeast Florida Regional Council. Food for Fines at the St. Johns County Public Library encourages patrons to bring food items in exchange for erasing fines. The food items will help stock the shelves of a local food bank. New County Commissioners Sworn Into Office – Two new members of the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners were sworn into office Tuesday, along with one re-elected incumbent. New Commissioners Mark P. Miner and Ken Bryan will represent District 3 and District 5, respectively, and Commissioner Cyndi Stevenson will continue to represent District 1. Click for more. Wintertime Fire Safety Tips – As temperatures drop, families head indoors to keep safe and warm. Unfortunately, turning up the heat can increase the risk of home heating fires. Nearly half of all home-heating fires occur during the winter and nearly all are preventable. St. Johns County Fire Rescue recommends some simple home heating safety tips. (Posted:11|05|08)

Winter Wonderland! The second annual Winter Wonderland festival returns to the St. Augustine Amphitheatre November 21st through January 4th. Government records may be seen and copied from a records custodian at the County Administration building, via specific County Departments responsible for their own records, from records custodians at Elected Officials Offices and at other levels of government such as state agencies, local, county and state authorities.
