La Pilita Museum celebrates the Mexican tradition of honoring those who have passed on, with a community altar made by children and awash in marigolds, sugar skulls, and Monarch butterflies.

Anza Days Oct. 18 - Oct. 19
The Village of Tubac commemorates the 1775 departure from Tubac of the de Anza expedition, with historic crafts, folklorico dancers, ethnic music, military re-enactments, and entertainers. The highlight is a re-enactment of the arrival of Juan Bautista de Anza and his soldiers in Southern Arizona as they began their trek to San Francisco.

Carondelet "Get Moving Tucson" Oct. 18
Thousands of runners and walkers will cruise through historical downtown Tucson in this annual, 10-mile run and 5K-walk/run event that includes live music, a climbing wall, jumping castles, and other post-race activities for the family.

2008 Pride in the Desert Oct. 18
Parade, beginning and ending at Reid Park, and all-day festival celebrates 31 years of GLBT Pride in Tucson, with live entertainers, commercial and nonprofit vendors, a food court, and youth and childrens' areas.

Family Time at MOCA: Steve Romaniello Theremin Oct. 18
Tucson's Museum of Contemporary Art hosts monthly event for families with young children; this month hear spage-age sounding theremin - the first musical instrument played entirely without being touched.

The Bisbee 1000 Great Stair Climb Oct. 18
Tour Old Bisbee and donate to the restoration of the city's historical stairways. Participants can walk, run, or rest their way through the roughly three-mile route that includes more than 1,000 steps and numerous back-roads at a mile-high altitude.

Go Ask the Little Horned Toad Oct. 25
Chamber Music Plus Southwest and Tucson Museum of Art present a theatrical portrait of famed Western artist and former Tucson resident, the late Maynard Dixon. Starring Conrad John Schuck as Maynard Dixon and featuring guitarist Brad Richter and cellist Harry Clark, and including more than 100 of the artist's works.

Pumpkin Carving Contest Oct. 25
Tucson Botanical Gardens hosts contest with prizes for pumpkins in categories of botanical, carved, painted.

Livin' La Vida Verde Oct. 25
