Kaufman And Broad To Donate Home For Community Fundraiser

SALINAS, California, October 26, 1997 -- Kaufman and Broad will help raise over $500,000 dollars for the building of The National Steinbeck Center in downtown Salinas by donating a brand new home that some lucky person will win.

 

This important fundraising project will have a huge impact on the City of Salinas and its economy.

The National Steinbeck Center will contain a museum that presents the life of John Steinbeck, his writings, his characters and "Steinbeck Country" in an educational and entertaining manner. The Center will be a multi-purpose facility that also includes a tourist and conference center. It will serve as the anchor to Salinas' historic oldtown, attracting visitors from around the world and continued expansion to the surrounding area.

Kaufman and Broad will construct the home in their California Vintage community in Salinas. Valued at approximately $235,000, the 2,025 square foot home features a corner lot location, five bedrooms, a three-car garage and front yard landscaping with an automatic sprinkler system.
