Kaufman and Broad Launches Independence Super Model Complex Over Memorial Day Weekend

A REVOLUTION IN NEW HOMEBUYING IN TUCSON

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Nine new model homes. Three new home communities. All in one location. A "revolution" in homebuying.

On Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29, Kaufman and Broad will launch its new super model complex, Independence at Midvale Park, marking the company’s biggest grand opening weekend ever in Tucson.

Visitors to Independence, located within the Midvale Park master planned community at Midvale Park Road just north of Valencia, will be able to tour nine new home models and three new home communities all in one central location.

"At most new home communities, there are only three or four models available for viewing," said John Bremond, the Tucson division president. "With nine onsite models, Independence offers virtually unprecedented choice in an environment unlike any other in Tucson."

Independence means empowerment, and that is precisely what the super model complex provides to the homebuyer. From one unified sales office, visitors have a choice of 18 different floor plans ranging from 896 square feet up to 2,838 square feet. Independence’s Oakmore, Cambrie and Oakview communities feature homes priced from $69,990 up to $142,990.

"The Independence concept really goes hand-in-hand with the idea behind our New Home Showroom," said Bremond. "Both center around giving our customers a friendly, one-stop location where they can view the maximum number of choices and get all the information they need."

Concepts such as Independence and the New Home Showroom have come about largely as a result of extensive customer surveys. During the last three years, Kaufman and Broad has solicited more than one million surveys of homebuyers in its markets, giving the homebuilder an insight into what their customers want.

The answer that has come back time and time again is choice -- a philosophy that both Independence and the New Home Showroom are built upon.

The customer’s convenience is maximized by the opportunity to see multiple models (as many as 16 at one "Independence" in Southern California) and view multiple communities offering a wide spectrum of floor plans and price ranges without ever having to move their car.

Rather than having to travel to several communities and work with several different salespeople, the homebuyer is allowed to build a rapport with a single salesperson who can show them multiple models and home sites.

The New Home Showroom, located at 4730 E. Grant Road, allows customers to have complete control concerning the final price of their home. The homebuyer isn’t forced to pay for customizing features that they don’t want -- if they don’t see a need for a fireplace, then they don’t have to pay for one. Instead, homebuyers make virtually all the decisions concerning customizing options and modifications in their new home.

When visiting the New Home Showroom, homebuyers choose from options such as lighting to security and fireplaces to media centers. They can choose to purchase all of their appliances, upgrade existing standard features such as garage doors, choose from the hundreds of flooring options, pick out their cabinetry and countertops and decide what type of window coverings, if any, that they want.

The New Home Showroom is also designed to provide a valuable resource for prospective homebuyers just beginning their home search. Visitors can receive information about all of Kaufman and Broad’s Tucson communities as well as receiving a free mortgage analysis and credit report.

The choice is the customer’s at both locations -- they can choose the options they want at the New Home Showroom and they can view nine new models and learn about multiple floor plans at Independence.

The launch of Independence is the jewel of a holiday weekend that includes the grand opening of new models at six other new home communities, including: Arizona La Victoria, Old Spanish Trail and 29th Street; Sotomayor Ranch, 2550 W. Oracle Jaynes Station; Sweetwater Reserve, Sweetwater and El Moraga Roads; Arizona San Xavier, Tucson Boulevard and Forgeus; and Villages of La Cañada, La Cañada and Lambert Roads. Grand opening festivities will also be held at Arizona Verde, Pantano and Golf Links Roads.
