| Bruce Karatz Honored by B'nai B'rith - Learning Center to be Established |
| B’nai B’rith International recently honored Bruce Karatz, chairman and CEO of Kaufman and Broad Home Corporation, with its Distinguished Humanitarian Award. A dinner was held June 6, 2000 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Beverly Hills. |

Among those attending were Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan; former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros, who is currently President of Univision; Eli and Edye Broad; Lisa Specht and Ron Rogers; and Ron Olson of Munger Tolles & Olson. Also attending from B’nai B’rith were International Executive Vice President Daniel Marlaschin, Southern California Regional President Mark E. Joseph, and the incoming Regional President Rosalind Klein.
The evening raised more than $120,000, which will be partly used to establish the BRUCE KARATZ LEARNING CENTER at the Golden Years Senior Apartments in North Hollywood. The senior apartment complex is one of 33 such projects built by B’nai B’rith throughout the U.S. B’nai B’rith is the nation’s largest Jewish provider of non-sectarian senior housing. The remainder of the evening’s proceeds will be used for community youth programs.
The BRUCE KARATZ LEARNING CENTER will offer specialized educational materials and intergenerational resource programs that will be used to teach residents, many who are immigrants, and other members of the community how to improve their English reading and speaking skills, as well as enhance their literacy efforts. The site will be dedicated in the Fall of 2000.
Bruce Karatz has been with Kaufman and Broad Home Corporation (NYSE:KBH) since 1972 and has guided the Company with consistent growth since 1986 when he was named chief executive officer. Karatz is deeply committed to community service as evidenced by his involvement with many civic and cultural organizations. He has chaired numerous fundraising and business committees for Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan. Karatz is chairman of the California Business Roundtable and the Los Angeles World Affairs Council. He plays a pivotal role in organizations such as the Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County, Children’s Institute International, Mayor’s Alliance for a Safer Los Angeles, USC Law Center and others.
